Bank of Commerce

Prior to 1931 the Powell River Company dealt exclusively with the Canadian Bank of Commerce, which once stood between the Cenotaph and the Rodmay Hotel. That ended when the Commerce turned down their request for a loan to construct No. 7 paper machine and the Lois River Dam. The company then invited the Bank of Montreal to Powell River; and constructed the bank building for their use.
